Will there be a 6x6 sized Cinefade VariND?
Our cmotion Cinefade VariND is 5.65”x5.65” in size and fits into the ARRI LMB 4x5 and similar matte boxes. For the Cinefade effect it is usually best to use fast prime lenses which mostly have small front diameters, rarely exceeding 143mm, which is the maximum front diameter clamp-on ring for the ARRI LMB 4x5 matte box.
Therefore, there have been few requests for a larger sized filter.
The VariND is however very popular with DPs and ACs as a variable ND filter, which would also include zoom lenses with larger front diameters. If there is enough demand in the market for a 6x6 sized filter we will certainly explore this further.
